Presented by... www.moabpaper.com, Crockettville is the blogspot of photo innovator Will Crockett.

The low cost Pocket Wizard Plus 3 wireless flash and camera trigger has plenty of features, a sleek look, and a more than fair price.

But does it work well? Is it worth the money? Does it work with mirrorless camera systems?

Photo innovator Will Crockett tests its range, reliability, ease of use and puts it to the test on a large scale photo shoot in this Real Life Photo Review video.

In this Crockettville blog post, I admit that I am absorbed with LED lighting for both photo and video - and for both on camera and off camera use. In my quest to learn more about it, I discovered a new book from an old friend that helped prevent some of the mistakes of starting from scratch on the new and important topic. Cameras with one attached zoom lens that have a rather long zoom (typically over 18X) are wonderful bargains for pros to use as a second cameras for shooting low light photos and video.  These cameras have HUGE performance for under $500 and if you want to make shooting hybrid images easy, good, and budget-friendly then here's the little fellas you want to get to know.  Which ones to buy? Here's 4 I have just tested with great results.

We're always looking for a great way to be kind on the ole photo budget, so as much are we are optimistic about creating "Pictures that Move" with our current cameras, we realize that there are lots of ShootSmarter.com readers who do not have a camera that will shoot HD video.

Does that mean you will have to upgrade your DSLR / HDSLR?  Or buy one of those new-fangled mirrorless Compact System Cameras I am so fond if? Maybe not. There's a category of camera that is no longer in favor of most photographers that is the odd-shaped superzoom / long zoom / megazoom style that is a ton of performance for a little bit of money.  All the big names have them still, Nikon, Sony, Lumix and Fuji make really terrific ones, but will they record solid photos and video files in the $350 - $550 range?  Dunno for sure, but here's a start.
